  • Explore the future of visual art and its applications within evolving new employment opportunities in the 21st century such as health, design, new media, architecture, museum and gallery professions, and education
  • Choose to focus your studies by majoring in either Curation, Innovation and Visual Art, or Visual Art Studio Practice. Extend your studies by adding a minor from another discipline such as Film and TV, journalism or Theatre.
  • Benefit from exhibiting at both 成人大片 Toowoomba campus and the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery when studying the Visual Art Studio Practice major. Experience a blended learning program of art ideas, curatorial practice, arts and cultural management, gallery studies and professional writing in the visual arts sector.

What is a Bachelor of Visual Art degree?

As a Bachelor of Visual Art student at UniSQ, you will have the opportunity to engage with a range of creative ideas, studio activities and professional outcomes throughout your degree. At UniSQ we have two different Bachelor of Visual Arts majors to choose from, depending on your interests and career goals.

Curation, Innovation & Visual Arts - Explore the future of visual art and its application. Learn how to become an adaptable artist by gaining detailed knowledge of historical, ideological, critical and ethical perspectives.

Visual Art Studio Practice - Build upon your practical art-making skills and techniques to help form your identity as an emerging artist. Gain advanced studio-based learnings and technical proficiencies to become a skilled visual arts professional within a variety of contemporary settings.

Continue to enhance your theatre skills and knowledge and use your Bachelor of Visual Art as a stepping-stone to further studies, such as our Bachelor of Creative Arts (Honours)

What are the pathways to entry?

University pathway programs provides students with an entry point to their chosen uni degree without an ATAR score. At UniSQ our pathways accommodate different students’ needs because we understand everyone’s journey to university is unique. Whether it’s been some time since you’ve last studied, you haven’t completed high school, or you’re making a career switch, we’ve got you covered.

How long does a Bachelor of Visual Art take?

The duration of a Bachelor of Visual Art may vary depending on the education provider you choose to study with.  At UniSQ, an undergraduate Visual and Performing Arts degree, such as the Bachelor of Visual Arts usually takes 3 years of full-time study. Some students choose to study part-time which increases the time it takes to complete the required courses.

The benefit of flexible study is that you can balance your life, work and family commitments by studying our Bachelor of Visual Arts where and when it suits you. You can choose to immerse yourself in on-campus study or learn your subject theory online and attend campus when necessary - the choice is yours.
